From a young child, Bethany always shared a passion for animals. She spent many holidays I'm Greece with her parents from a young age, feeding and stroking the stray cats and dogs.
At age 17 She even moved to Greece for a summer period and volunteered in an animal shelter help feeding, cleaning and playing with the dogs and cats.
Beth rescued her first cat when she was 11 years old and remembers clearly saying she wanted "the cat that had been there the longest", having no care of what the cats appearance or character was like.
She just wanted to give a home to the one that needed it the most.
Isobel, now age 16 still lives with her Mum and Dad.
In 2012, after buying her first house, Bethany got her first dog and named him Hunter. A few months later she adopted another dog and named him Winnie.
After finding a new passion for dog walking, she started her own dog walking business called 'Paw Prints Portsmouth' which she has been successfully running since 2013.
In 2016, after a break up from a 7 year relationship, she sold and bought a new house backing on to a large field and just a 2 minute walk from Portsdown hill where she would often walk her dogs.
Not long after moving, during a dog walk up these hills., she found a small kitten in a bush, cold, wet and starving.
After nursing the little kitten back to health and naming her Alice, the rewarding act of rescuing an animal in need became an obsession.
Not long after finding Alice, she rescued another young cat so Alice would have a friend, named Harley.
Another came up a few months ago on Facebook needing a home, then came Snax.
A few months later another came up on Facebook needing a home...and so on. The numbers grew and so did Beth's passion for rescuing these cats...
Meow Manor was officially started in 2018 but only advertised from mid 2024 due to Beth's aversion to social media.
However, she knew she needed to get the word out and raise awareness of the importance of spaying and neutering and how many cats were being rehomed and abandoned in the Portsmouth & Hampshire area.
Her husband Tom, started doing to social media side of things, they were both overwhelmed by the amount of support they had from members of the public but with knowledge of this new sanctuary that keeps all the cats that comes through it's door, came more people reaching out for them to take cats in and so the numbers and the need to financial help grew!
All donations go to the cats to help with Vet bills, spays/neuters and the catio extension project.
